Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Global Carbon Ledger platform ("Platform") operated by Global Carbon Ledger Limited ("GCL", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to these Terms.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract. If you sign up on behalf of a company, farm, cooperative, or public body, you confirm you are authorised to bind that entity.

• Accounts are role-based: farmer, buyer, society, country officer, VVB, field science, and admin.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials confidential.
• You are responsible for all activity on your account.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.

• You confirm you own or have the legal right to enrol the farm and its palms.
• You grant GCL the right to monitor the farm via satellite and, where applicable, ground sensors and field visits, for the purpose of estimating and reporting carbon sequestration.
• You will not double-sell the same carbon credits to any other programme.

• Credit listings on the Platform represent estimated, satellite-monitored sequestration that is being prepared for independent verification. Some batches may not yet be independently verified; the status is shown on each listing.
• Payment terms, delivery, and any refunds are defined in the order confirmation.
• Retirement of credits, where offered, is final.

Unless a different split is agreed in writing, net revenue from each credit sale is distributed as: 65% to the farmer, 30% to GCL, and 5% to the community fund. The current split is displayed to authorised users in the admin revenue module.

You retain ownership of the farm data and documents you upload. You grant GCL a worldwide, royalty-free licence to use that data to operate the Platform, produce carbon reports, submit them to verifiers and registries, and improve our models. Aggregated or anonymised data may be used for research and public reporting.

• Do not upload false, misleading, or fraudulent data.
• Do not attempt to bypass role restrictions or row-level security.
• Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute Platform content without written permission.
• Do not use the Platform to violate any law or third-party right.

Platform access for farmers is free. GCL earns from the revenue split described above. You are responsible for any taxes on payments you receive.

Estimated carbon income figures shown in calculators and reports are illustrative, based on satellite monitoring and current market pricing. They are not a guarantee of future income and are not investment, legal, or tax advice.

The Platform relies on third-party infrastructure (hosting, database, satellite imagery, payment). Their availability and terms may affect the Platform. We are not liable for third-party outages.

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, GCL disclaims all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GCL's total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Platform is limited to the greater of (a) the fees GCL received from you in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 100. GCL is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

You agree to indemnify GCL against claims arising from your breach of these Terms, your data, or your misuse of the Platform.

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the Platform and take effect on the new effective date shown above. Continued use after that date means you accept the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. The courts of Abu Dhabi have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer rights in your country.
